Dr. Burgess is a native of East Tennessee who attended East Tennessee State University where he completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. He attended The University of Tennessee Chattanooga where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Following Physical Therapy school, he was commissioned in the US Navy and served in a number of capacitates and roles across multiple settings. While serving at NMRTC-Portsmouth he completed his orthopedic residency and deployed to Central America, South America, and the Caribbean during Continuing Promise-15 to provide humanitarian aid. He next reported to LOGSU-2 to support US Navy SEALs and deployed twice to Europe and Africa to provide physical therapy to forward deployed servicemembers. He most recently served as Department Head at NMTRC-Beaufort providing care to servicemembers and dependents across all three Lowcountry bases. He holds multiple advanced credentials including his Board Certification in Orthopedics, Certified Dry Needling, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
